Wedding Planning
Couples have many choices today for their wedding. No longer are they
bound by staid tradition. This is wonderful for the creative couple,
but with so many choices for choosing a banquet hall, it makes the
decisions overwhelming. Step One. Write this down. My wedding is a joyous event. I will enjoy it. So, you've made all of the phone calls, instant messaged all your
friends, and posted your announcement on MySpace. The next day, get
realistic about your budget. Choosing a banquet hall will probably be
the largest expense. Search local venues on the Internet and then create a list of questions
to see what can be excluded from the all inclusive banquet halls and
what you have to purchase. Setup a weekend and go tour the banquet
halls on your list. Some banquet halls may have open houses planned
where you get to taste the goodies and chat with the caterers. Go,
enjoy, but ask, ask, ask? Bridal Shows Most larger cities have bridal shows, especially in the early spring.
The ticket prices are usually low and it's a way to kick off your
wedding planning. When you see the elegant displays for choosing a
banquet hall and pictures of the lakeside facility, you will get stars
in your eyes. Go ahead and lap up the fairytale feeling, but remember
this: • Every single vendor at the bridal show paid to be there with the intent of selling something. • Don't sign any contracts that day. Trust me, you are not in your right mind. Think Through Choosing Your Banquet Hall • Do you have a church you can use? If so, are you allowed to serve
alcohol? Is the reception area big enough for your guests? What
decorations will you have to buy? • Do you want an outside wedding? Does your location have a place to
hold the ceremony if it's raining. Nothing ruins the day like a soggy
bride. • Are you looking at an all inclusive banquet hall facility? This can
be a great choice because they have done this so many times; they act
as a semi-wedding planner. Using this type of service can save on the
planning, but the facility is there to make money, so carefully
investigate what they are offering. Choosing banquet hall all-inclusive facilities can have lots of
"gotchas." They may require that you use their catering, which can be
very high, or even that if you hire your own caterer, that you must
rent their tableware which can be $3.00 or $4.00 a place setting. They
may make you pay for their bartender and they will, for sure, make you
pay for their security officer if alcohol is served. Love the Life You are Building Making wedding plans is like a test drive for your future. Sure, it's
fraught with some frustration and anxiety, but it's also the slow
knitting of threads between you as a couple.
