How to be a Calm Bride

How to be a Calm Bride

So he's popped the question and you have said "yes" so now you must come down out of the clouds and plan your wedding. Big or small there are certain things that every wedding must have and one is a very calm bride. You may think 'calm' and 'bride' shouldn't be used in the same sentence, but it can be done and you have to make it happen.

Every bride wants her wedding day to be spectacular and it can be. It doesn't matter what type of wedding you have you must be in a good state of mind in order to enjoy it. If you are usually a procrastinator now is the time to kick into gear and change that around. The ticket to having a great stress-free event is to plan, plan, plan. Whether you are going to have a wedding coordinator or not, there are still going to be a lot of things that you will have to do yourself, including, but not limited to: choosing a wedding party, selecting wardrobe, (for you and them), deciding on venues and vendors. And don't forget about the little things; a garter, a guest book, a pillow for the ring bearer. There is so much to be done.

Firstly decide what type of event you want and when those things are decided you can work in the details one at a time. Then create a timeline. There are tons of books that you can buy that lend a hand to 'wedding planning' and are usually entitled as such, but before you purchase one look through it to make sure it actually has things in there that you will need. Oftentimes these books are filled with pages and pages of material that is not necessarily related to the type of wedding event that you may be planning so if you buy a book to help you plan your wedding, make sure it's suitable to your needs. Or forgo the book all together and get a blank journal, that way you can create your own titles and ensure that you have what you need.

Next decide what you can do yourself. If you are extremely crafty you can save yourself a lot of money and add your own special touch, which is always nice. If you are not crafty there is still something that you can do. For instance it doesn't take a rocket scientist to create a save-the-date card. You don't need to go to a special stationary store or have these cards ordered. They can be easily created on your home computer. Save the big money and fancy paper for your wedding invitations. Another thing that you can do yourself is create gift bags for your guests. Make cute little bags to take to the hotel as your guests arrive. They will love you for it. For all of the things that you are going to do yourself, the key is to do it ahead of time. Do a little bit each day so that you are not overwhelmed. Another important thing to remember is to stick to your timeline.

As your wedding date gets closer you should be getting ready to enjoy your day. Don't spend your wedding day eve running around. Make sure that everything is done according to your timeline. In the end you will be a beautiful bride who is calm enough to actually take part in her own wedding day and enjoy every minute. And of course, feel free to ask your groom for help, but don't stress out if he doesn't. It's sometimes not in the DNA.
