Is there a wedding in your future? Do you want it to be more than the
traditional sit down dinner and dancing? Want to spice it up a bit and
add a touch of fun and flare to your ceremony? Do you want yours to be
the wedding that is most talked about and emulated all season? Why not
play some hilarious wedding day games?
We have all heard and seen your basic wedding games and rituals like
dancing the hokey pokey and the infamous tossing of the garter. Its not
just I dos anymore. Now you can play such wonderful and wacky games
like the egg roll, or how well do I know my husband/wife and even games
with names like kiss and tell and is that my wife’s/husband’s bum?
All of these actually stem from ancient Chinese wedding games that are
played during the traditional wedding banquet feast, but they can
easily be adapted and personalized for use with any tradition or
culture.
In the egg roll the bride and groom and brought to the front of the
room and the wife is given a raw egg. She is then asked to kneel before
her husband. She must now pass the egg through one pant leg, across the
front and down the other leg, removing the egg intact. Needless to say
the guests are sure to hoot and howl and it can make for some funny and
often times messing situations. A sure crowd pleaser.
To play How well do I know my Spouse? either the bride or groom is
blindfolded and then, for example if it is the groom that is
blindfolded, all the women line up among the bride and with only his
sense of smell he must scope the line and identify his bride with a
kiss. It is always fun and sure to bring a laugh or two. For even more
hilarity throw a few men into the mix.
For Kiss and Tell the groom is blind folded and then all the women,
along with his new bride walk around and plant a slight kiss on his
cheek. He must then identify the kiss of his new bride. Again it is
always cute to add Uncle Joe or Grand Pa into the list of “lovely
maidens”.
A bit risqué for some but a real crowd pleaser at most Chinese wedding
banquets is “Who’s bum?” in this example the bride is blindfolded and
all the men line up among her new groom. She must identify his bottom
by feel alone.
These are just a few games that can be added to liven up any reception.
Each can be personalized to fit into most cultures. They are a great
way to get to know guests and makes for a wonderful and playful first
night for the bride and groom.
