Planning Your Wedding - The First Steps
Of all of the events in a person's life, their wedding day is perhaps
one of the most important and memorable. Many people dream all through
their childhood and their teenage years about their wedding day. Some
people even begin planning parts of their wedding when they are still
very young. They daydream about where it will be, what they will wear,
and about all of the fun aspects their wedding will have. So, when the
day finally comes for their wedding, planning is incredibly important. Planning your wedding is very important but it does not have to be
difficult. If you do your research and go into planning your wedding
with some solid ideas of what you want, you should not have a problem
creating the wedding of your dreams. A good starting point for anyone
who is trying to make plans for their wedding ceremony and the
reception is to simply buy a notebook. If you buy a notebook, get one that is very durable and that will
withstand a lot of abuse, because you will come to see this notebook -
or even binder - as the lifeline to your wedding plans. As soon as you
purchase your wedding notebook, sit down and just jot down a list of
everything that comes to mind when you envision your wedding day. This
does not have to be a well written essay; it can just be a numbered
list, or even a stream of consciousness style of writing where you
simply put pen to paper and write down whatever pops into your head.
This is a great way to get a feel for what kind of style of wedding you
are going to want. After you have accumulated a fairly extensive list or group of ideas in
your wedding notebook, you can then peruse it and go into more detail
on some of the items. For instance, you will likely have written down
where you want the ceremony to take place (i.e., in a church). Turn to
a new page in the notebook and expand on this idea. Do you have a
specific church in mind, for example? Or you may have written down
roughly what time of year you would like your wedding to be. If you
chose spring (a very popular wedding choice), for example, when
specifically in spring would be a good time for your wedding? You could also begin thinking about things such as color themes for
your wedding. Think of some of your most favorite colors and write them
down. Now imagine and envision how different combinations of these
colors will go together and look at your wedding ceremony and
reception. Some of the colors that you are fond of might not make good
choices for a wedding; by writing them down, you will be able to more
clearly imagine them and decide if you have any good candidates. Also, you could even begin coming up with lists for the wedding party.
If you are the bride-to-be, for example, you could start thinking of
who you would like to be your maid or matron of honor. Think about all
of your closest female friends, and who you would like to be among your
bridesmaids. Do you want a lot of bridesmaids, or just a couple?
Deciding how large the wedding party is going to be is important to
figure out pretty early in the process of planning your wedding. So, as you can see, a notebook or binder is an excellent jumping off
point when you plan your wedding. Give it a try and you will be very
happy!
